Second Opinion

Second Opinion

Dr. Hyman has a reputation of providing thorough and expert second opinion evaluations. He seeks to answer all your questions and teach you about things you may not have know to ask, so you leave feeling informed, reassured and satisfied. Getting a second opinion is often a very valuable tool for patients, as it helps them feel more confident about the medical care they are getting, is particularly important when considering surgery. Hip arthroscopy, knee surgery and shoulder surgery and non-surgical options are his specialties.

If you would like to see Dr. Hyman in Atlanta for a second opinion, please follow the five steps below. If you reside out of state or live outside of the US, or would like an electronic second opinion, please contact him directly via email at hymanteam@gmail.com

Step 1. Type up the history and background of your current problem (when and how it started, what treatments you've had, what your current symptoms are, and what has been recommended for you). Email your story to hymanteam@gmail.com

Step 2. You will need to obtain and forward/have sent any of your previous relevant medical records and documents to Dr. Hyman's office so that he can review them in advance of your appointment. That way, your appointment with him will be spent mostly evaluating you and educating you. You can contact your doctor's office to pick up:

  • any of your doctors' office/chart notes
  • any operative reports of your surgery
  • any physical therapist's notes (you may need to call your therapist)
  • any MRI/X-ray reports
  • color pictures from any arthroscopic surgery you may have already had
  • any X-ray/MRI/CT scan films (if your doctor doesn't have them, the scanner facility may be able to reprint a copy for you)

You may have to pick some of these things up at your doctor's office and deliver them if you are uncomfortable with mailing or faxing them. Give your doctor's office a few days to prepare things for your pick up. Step 3. When you call to set up your appointment with Dr. Hyman, let them know it is for a second opinion so they can block out adequate time for your visit. Step 4. If you have specific questions you would like Dr. Hyman to answer, include those in your email from step 1 above. Step 5. Before your appointment, confirm that all the materials you dropped off or had sent in were received by Dr. Hyman's staff. Please contact Dr. Hyman's Special Projects Coordinator, Christina, if you have any questions, at (770) 363-8770.

I would like to thank you sincerely for the great care that you have provided me. I am deeply grateful to both of you and all your wonderful clinic and hospital team.

Dr. Hyman diagnosed my problem right away. I had surgery a couple of months later and now after 2 years I feel like a new person.

Since Dr. Hyman operated on my left hip I’ve been able to walk better, longer, and with better ease than I could ever imagine.

I thank God every day that I had that surgery since I have finally gotten rid of the pain that has kept me awake at night for years.

I appreciate you taking the time to educate me about my injury. I also appreciate the kindness and professionalism of the entire staff at Atlanta Sports Medicine.

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. For the first time in approximately a year and a half I am pain free.

I appreciate the attentive, professional care and could not envision a better experience. I truly am thankful to be under your care.
